HW Dolphins: Volunteer Needs for Thursday

First, thank you!

Thank you parents! Thank you to our Volunteer Coordinators Laura Holder and Maggie Hammond for leading and organizing an entire season of shifts (hundreds of them)! It has been a smooth and efficient season from a volunteer shift perspective, and it’s because we have an amazing leadership team and community of parents.

Second, now that you all know you are awesome, :) we have one final volunteer request for the season.

Second Shift Volunteers Needed for Thursday
We need approximately 20 people to serve in volunteer roles for an added second shift at Mountain Park. We anticipate that this second shift will be an abbreviated one (1 to 1.5 hours). We know many families have completed their required 4 shifts, but we are hoping a few dozen parents would enjoy being on the pool deck at Mountain Park (only volunteers allowed) and sign up to work an extra shift this season.

The shifts are open on our Calendar page for parents to sign-up. If you are a first shift volunteer for this meet and don’t mind working a long shift, you can sign up for the second shift spot as well. If you are willing to add a shift to your season, we need timers, officials, data entry and bullpen volunteers. (I am willing to bribe parents with the promise of chocolate and glitter ducks!)

Some background …Our volunteer shift plan for the season went awry when we offered to host the Eastmont Cove meet (it was scheduled by the League to be at Eastmont Cove, but we felt asking a team of 50 to host a team of 150 was too much). Once we added that 3rd home meet, we either had to ask everyone to volunteer for 5 shifts OR set up the Eastmont Cove and Mountain Park meets as one shift. Looking at the size of both teams for this Thursday’s meet, we decided (over the weekend) to create a second shift of volunteers so the first shift doesn’t work 3 hours or more.

Leadership Roles in 2027
We have an amazing leadership team this season, but being on the leadership team is not a lifetime commitment – and kids grow up and graduate, amazing summer vacation plans pop up, families have other commitments, etc. So, each year we are always looking for new people to step into volunteer roles.

If you’d have skills, experience or a passion for a certain area of swim team, let us know! Each year (usually around the start of the calendar year), we are looking to fill vacancies in our leadership team.

Thank you & Go Dolphins!
