Meets

In a typical summer, each team in the Gwinnett Swim League swims in 5 to 6 dual meets – most of these are held on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. from late May through June. Half of the meets are at home and half of them at another Gwinnett pool (sometimes 15-30 minutes away).

At an average Hanarry West swim meet there are:
200+ swimmers ages 4-18
80+ parent volunteers
400+ spectators
82 events
4-5 hours of competitive swimming

To learn more about the schedule of eventsstrokesvolunteer positions, and disqualificationsswimming termsinclement weather plans and other information, please see the links at the top of this page and the top of the website navigation.

Parking: For meets at Hanarry West, the parking lot is blocked off and limited to handicap parking and team coach/leadership parking. Parking is only available on one side of the street throughout the neighborhood. This ensures that traffic flows smoothly and that emergency vehicles have unobstructed access given an emergency. During meets, please abide by the NO PARKING signs and park only on roads, not grass.

Bullpen: The bullpen is a designated location on or near the pool deck where all swimmers stay when they’re not participating in a race. Each team has its own bullpen. Instead of sitting with parents or having free reign of the pool deck during a swim meet, swimmers should be in the bullpen when they are not participating in a race so that they can be easily found by coaches and volunteers – who help them line up for their events.

Staging: The staging area is behind the starting blocks. The staging area has seats (chairs or benches) near the starting blocks that allow swimmers to line up for their designated lane ahead of their event. Coaches and parent staging volunteers arrange the swimmers and seat them to ensure a continuous flow of traffic for the races and that the meet stays on schedule. Only coaches, swimmers and volunteers are allowed in the staging area.

Spectator Seating: At each meet there is a designated seating area for home team spectators and another designated area for visiting team spectators. Spectators need to bring their own chairs.

Dive & Dine Concession Stand

Concessions are available at both home and away meets, but our Hanarry West concessions are definitely the best in the league! Not only do they feature basics, like drinks, chips and candy, but also hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta, fresh fruit, baked potatoes and more. There's usually a speciality item featured, like homemade tacos or warm fruit cobbler with ice cream. The home meet concession stands are run by Hanarry West parent volunteers and all proceeds go toward the swim team. The menu is posted to our Facebook group and sent in the meet email the week of the meet. Please make plans to dine with us!
