HW Dolphins: Fourth Meet Week

Fourth Meet Week

For our final home meet, we are hosting the Eastmont Cove Olympians! The Olympians are one of the League’s smaller teams with 50 swimmers, and it’s been many years since Hanarry West has had a meet at or hosted Eastmont Cove. Weather permitting, we are looking forward to another fun home meet with lots of fast swims by our Dolphins!

Because there are less than 180 swimmers competing in this meet, some of the volunteer shifts may have a different timeframe, and for many roles, we will only have one shift. If you are scheduled to volunteer Thursday, please read through the email that comes from our Volunteer Coordinators very carefully.

Rain Prep
Last season we became VERY accustomed to swim meets in the rain (I think there were 3!). Your leadership team and coaches are watching the weather closely and making plans for all the different scenarios: sunny skies!!!, light rain, rainstorm with thunder. On our team website, there is LOTS of information about how weather can affect meets, adjustments that are made when it does and other questions we were asked last season. If there is a postponement or continuation of the meet, that will occur on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. (website has info about this too!).

For our families, we recommend going ahead and preparing to get wet. Pack umbrellas (especially for our volunteers!), trash bags, ziplock bags, extra towels and clothes.

If you have a tent you’d be willing to bring and set up at the meet, please respond to this email and let us know. We may decide to tent as much of the deck as possible, for example, not only our starter and concessions, but also the end of the pool deck for timers, bullpen and parent seating area.

Concessions Menu
Since this meet will have a smaller crowd in attendance, we’ll have a modified concessions offering. A HUGE thanks to Ana Wydeven for stepping in to take the lead on our concessions Thursday. You’ll find a yummy menu attached.

Senior Night
With Thursday as our last home meet, we’ll recognize our 4 senior swimmers! Be sure to check out the poster boards about each swimmer on display at the meet, and stick around until the very end for our traditional & fun senior swim! Join us in wishing these Dolphins good luck in their next adventures!

Alex Fennell:
Alex has been a member of the Hanarry West swim team for 11 years, including 4 years as a coach. He swam competitively with Spartans Aquatic Club throughout middle school and high school. During his high school swimming career at Greater Atlanta Christian School, Alex was part of two state championship teams. Alex is heading to the University of North Georgia, where he plans to study criminal justice.

Mia Fennell:
Mia has been a member of the Hanarry West swim team for 11 years, including 5 years as a coach. She swam competitively with the Spartans Aquatic Club throughout middle school and high school. Mia will attend Georgia College & State University in the fall, where she plans to major in elementary education.

Alan Nyugen:
This was Alan's first year as a Hanarry West Dolphin, but not his first year as a talented swimmer. He was a four-year letter winner and state qualifier for Parkview. He plans to attend UGA in the fall.

Jessica Rodrigo:
Jessica joined the Hanarry West swim team at age 7, and has been a Dolphin ever since! Jessica joined the Parkview Swim Team as a sophomore and excelled in breaststroke, swimming in several county championships. She was recognized as an Athletic Scholar, and as a senior, she received the Rick Creed Sportsmanship Award. Jessica will attend Valdosta State and plans to major in psychology.
