HW Dolphins: Second Meet Week

Hello Dolphins!

You may notice a new group of swimmers at the pool this week – our Dolphin Pups started today and will be learning to swim for the next 3 weeks from 9-9:30 a.m. Please help them feel welcome and encouraged.

Spiritwear
First meet = requests for spiritwear! We had several families ask about purchasing team shirts, so Shuma is reopening our team store for 2 days! Here’s your VERY last chance to purchase tees, tanks, sweatshirts & hoodies. Don’t delay! Order today! Will ship to your house.

Second Meet
This week Hanarry West hosts our neighbors Evergreen Eels – a similar size team who should offer some great competition in the pool. Again, like last week, swimmers should plan to arrive by 4:45 p.m. and check in as soon as they arrive outside the gate. The Dolphins warm-up time is from 5-5:25 p.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: We are excited to have HW swim team member Annalise Ulrich singing the national anthem this week.

CONCESSIONS: We’ve got plans and tweaks for shorter lines this week so that you can enjoy even more food and races! See this week’s menu attached.

PARKING: If you were at our first meet, you may have heard the multiple announcements about cars parked illegally and Lilburn Police arriving to ticket. Remember: Parking is only on the pool side of the street. Do not block driveways. Do not block fire hydrants. Do not park within 30 feet of a stop sign.

CLEAN UP: Before you leave the meet this week, please make sure to walk through our team’s bullpen. Last week we had quite a bit of trash and a number of personal items left behind. Our hard-working coaches have a lot to do as they return the pool to normal. We need everyone to do their part and pick up trash and other items before departing.

Weekly County Results
Each week of the season, the Gwinnett County Swim League posts the top times in each event. The top 50 swimmers in each event at the end of the season qualify for the County Meet. But swimmers are only allowed 3 individual events and some choose not to participate, so the county lists swimmers up 75 because these swimmers have the possibility to qualify.

RSVPs
Don’t forget to RSVP for the next meet by Friday at 11:30 a.m. each week. Or, go ahead and RSVP for all of them at once! Also, please RSVP for Fun Fridays and the Saturday Stroke Clinics.

Fun Friday
A big thank you to the Dewald Family for sponsoring this week’s Fun Friday. The theme this week is “Say Cheese” because we are tackling the toughest challenge of the season: the Team Photo!

Please plan to show up on time at 10:30 a.m. AND with swimmers wearing their team shirts! (if you can’t find this year’s, wear last year’s or the year before) We have a plan (written out) for kids to assemble themselves quickly from smallest to tallest in a line around the pool – then to quickly get them in place for a team photo. Fun Friday free swim will take place after.

Reminder for Fun Fridays and Practices: Swimmers 8 years old and younger must have a parent or designated adult at the pool with them.

Stroke Clinic
This week’s stroke clinic will focus on turns. Our older swimmers, who swim two laps of the pool in meets, are encouraged to come. And even our younger swimmers, who swim 50 yard freestyle in meets, can come learn how to do or improve flip-turns. Don’t forget to RSVP so we can accurately plan for coaches.
