HW Dolphins: Weekly Q&A
Thank you Dolphins for a great start to the season! Here are a few questions that popped up yesterday:
What’s going on with the lane line near the clubhouse?
We are very proud to be the SECOND OLDEST team in the Gwinnett County Swim League. But with that pride comes knowledge that our facilities are also among the oldest. During the last practice session on Monday evening, one of the lane line connectors in the wall broke. This is the same one that broke toward the end of the season last year. The Club is working on a fix. In the meantime, you’ll see the line attached to the Clubhouse area – so please be carefully when walking through this area.
If I’m interested in signing up for a specific volunteer role – I saw some need preapproval – how do I do that?
The following roles require you to be PREAPPROVED (which means you need to be added to the SwimTopia system for that specific role) BEFORE you are able to sign yourself up for that role’s volunteer shifts. This is because some roles (like Stroke & Turn Official) require online League training. Other roles may be more nuanced or require a special skill set.
If you want to serve in the roles below, please email our VERY HARDWORKING Volunteer Coordinators today (or find them at practice this evening)!
[email protected]
GRILLERS: First Shift: 4:15 – 6:45 | Second Shift: 6:30 – 9:00
Two needed per shift for continuous cooking of menu items on Blackstone flat top.
CONCESSIONS SETUP: One Shift: 3:00 – 5:30
Stand setup, inventory, prep, and organization before opening
CONCESSIONS POINT OF SALE: First Shift: 5:00 – 7:15 | Second Shift: 7:15 – close
This role takes orders, handles payments, and enters items into POS.
CONCESSIONS EXPEDITER: First Shift: 5:00 – 7:15 | Second Shift: 7:15 – close
Positioned at the front table, this role receives completed items, assembles full orders, verifies accuracy, and hands food to customers. Serves as the point of contact for any questions so the order line keeps moving
COOKS & BAKERS
Purchase ingredients and cook or bake designated menu items. Bring items to the meet before Concessions opens (4:30PM). Coordinate items with and follow guidelines provided by Concessions Coordinators. If you have specific items that are your speciality – please let us know what they are in your email!
STROKE & TURN OFFICIALS
A much needed role on our team! Requires completing 1.5 hour online League training. Officials work both home and away meets (4 at a time; 2 from each team).
DATA ENTRY
For away meets, need parents with a strong understanding of heat sheets, structure of meets and the ability to work with data quickly.
How do we let coaches know that our swimmer will miss a meet?
RSVPs are required for all swim meets. By entering your swimmers’ RSVP on the Calendar Meet page in SwimTopia, you will let the coaches know which meets your swimmer can attend. RSVPs must be received by the Friday morning before the meet! But if you know your summer schedule, you can go ahead and RSVP for all the meets at the same time … and while you are doing so, go ahead and RSVP for Fun Fridays and Saturday clinics as well.
Will there be golf carts this season at home meets helping people get from their cars to the pool?
We hope so (and working on scheduling that with helpful neighbors week). If you have a golf cart and would be willing to shuttle people at home meets, please reach out and let us know!
