HW Dolphins: Coaches, Volunteers & Meet Updates
Hello Dolphins!
We have several bits of information to share as we fast approach the start of the summer swim season. See below for meet change info and volunteer needs.
Plus, attached is a list of our 2026 Swim Team Coaches and 2026 Leadership Team. Many of these coaches and leaders will be at our Summer Swim Family Reunion next Wednesday at Agavero Parkside – be sure to look for them in their HW shirts! Also attached is our annual “Fridge Sheet”.
Meet Schedule Change: June 18 is NOW a Home Meet
We were scheduled by the League to swim Eastmont Cove at their pool on Thursday, June 18, but both teams have decided to move this meet to Hanarry West. The meet was moved because our team (153 swimmers) is three times the size of Eastmont Cove (currently below 50 registered). Eastmont Cove does not have the pool deck space to accommodate a team of our size, and they were worried they wouldn't have enough volunteers to run a meet of that size.
What this means for Hanarry West:
- Shorter drive to the meet!
- June 18 will be our Senior Night!
- A shorter than normal meet because of the size of Eastmont Cove! (We hope to be finished by 9PM)
- More work for many on our leadership team to host an additional meet. Please tell them “thank you!” and offer to help them how you can.
- Modified/smaller concessions stand for this shorter and 3rd home meet of the season.
Leadership Needs:
In order for our season to flow smoothly AND the burden of work not to fall too heavily on a few volunteers, we need parents to fill the following roles this season. If you are interested or willing to volunteer in these roles, please email: [email protected]
1) Concessions Manager for June 18
Our Concession Coordinator for the season will be out of town for this meet AND because it’s our 3rd home meet AND because (as mentioned above) it will be a shorter meet, we are planning for a smaller concessions stand. The Concessions Manager would plan for food, order food and run the concessions stand on June 18. Instead of homemade items and food made on site, we are thinking pizza or Chic-fil-a sandwiches and Kona Ice, etc. We are open to ideas the Concessions Manager might have! (We know this is a large volunteer role, but it would fulfill a family’s volunteer requirements for the season.)
2) Computers: Assistant Coordinator
So that ALL the work of the Computer Coordinator doesn’t fall on Melissa Lawrence and amazing teenage volunteer daughter Kaitlyn Lawrence, we need a parent volunteer willing to step into this role. This role would work home meets (most likely first shift), ensuring accurate data entry of times, printing labels for ribbons and keeping information flowing. If you have strong (and quick!) data entry skills, work well under pressure, can manage multiple tasks at once – we need you!
3) Meet Starter
The Dolphins have an amazing starter in DJ Olojo, who keeps meets moving along smoothly with a strong voice and positivity. BUT our team needs another Starter! It’s a big task to work an entire meet AND unrealistic for one volunteer to be at every meet (in fact, DJ Olojo will not be at our second meet, so we will be asking the visiting team for a Starter). If you have any interest in helping the team in this role, please let us know! We are happy to answer questions and provide training during meets this season. Starters complete two online courses (neither long): GCSL Stroke & Turn Official training and GCSL Starter training.
