2026 Hanarry West Swim Team Information
Hello Dolphins!
We are looking forward to another great season at Hanarry West and are excited to have head coach Eric Brown and assistant head coach Ethan Kruger back to lead the team.
Your swim team board (team manager Patricia Heys, team manager Christina van Maanen and treasurer Shayna Olojo) have been meeting monthly since August to prepare for the coming season. We’ve got a few changes for the season we hope will enrich the team experience for swimmers and families, but much of the 2026 season will look similar to last year.
Key dates and information we have at this time are listed below. We are also updating the website with information on a continual basis.
KEY DATES:
Coaching Application
Deadline to Apply: February 22
We are currently accepting applications for 2026 Swim Team Assistant Coaches and 2026 Dolphin Pups Coaches. Information about the positions is available on the application. Please share with teenagers you know who may be interested (League rules state that coaches under 18 must be active members of the swim team). The deadline to apply is February 22.
2026 Season Registration Opens
February 18
Previous team members will receive an email when registration is open with a link to
register. Please register quickly. Our team has reached capacity the past several years. Once an age group has reached its limit, we will close registration for that group (even for former members). Registration fees and other information is available on our website.
Registration Open to New Members
March 4
Please share this New Family Information Form with families you know who may be interested in joining the Dolphins this season. Registration can be a very time-consuming process for volunteer team managers, especially registering new families who often (and understandably) have lots of questions (and occasionally register for the wrong Hanarry swim team!). We hope this new process will help us learn more about our new families so that we can help orient them quickly to the sport and team and help us make sure we don’t have overcrowded age groups.
*NEW THIS SEASON Summer Swim Family Reunion
April 29 at Agavero Parkside, 5-8 p.m.
Drop by the park to reconnect with your summer swim family! We hope to have some of our coaches in attendance for swimmers to meet. Families can pick up their team shirt and swim cap, plus bring items for a swimsuit exchange table. This will be a casual drop-in event. But if you can, plan to eat dinner at Agavero Parkside, as a portion of proceeds from the evening will benefit the swim team!
First Day of Practice
May 11
The tentative practice schedule has been posted to the Hanarry West Swim Team website. A few changes this year:
1) There will be an additional evening practice on Wednesdays, using two lanes of the pool. Evening practices are only for swimmers 7 years and older who are able to swim laps continuously throughout practice. No coaches will be in the water for evening practices.
2) Friday stroke clinics will be moved to Saturday mornings (and will have a slightly different format than past years; more info to come).
Swim Meets
May 28, June 4, June 11, June 18, June 25
Based on anticipated registration, each family will be required to volunteer 4 meet shifts this season. Sign-ups for volunteer shifts will happen online during the first week of practice (more info to come). The League provides the home-away schedule usually at the end of March.
Fun Fridays
May 29, June 5, June 11, June 18, June 26
Fun Fridays, always a highlight of the week, will be held this year from 10:30-11:30 a.m. (note new time).
Dolphin Pups
Session 1: June 1
Session 2: June 22
Based on parent feedback from last year, we are offering two sessions of Pups this season. Registration will open at the same time as the swim team (February 16). Space in each session is limited, so please sign up early or encourage friends and neighbors to sign up early as well. Dolphin Pups can participate in one or both sessions.
End of Season Celebration
July 7, Evening
Listening to feedback from our volunteers, parents and coaches, we wanted to move this celebration to NOT the day after a swim meet (and hopefully a day with no rain!). We know that our families take vacations and kids have camps different weeks throughout the summer, but hopefully this date will work for many. We will send out a survey to team members after registration to learn more about how our team members would like to celebrate the season.
County Meet
July 10-12 at Georgia Tech
The tentative practice schedule for county qualifiers is posted on the website.
