HW Dolphins: 2025 Season!

What a great summer season it has been!

A big thank you to all our parents – your enthusiasm and sense of community is one of the things that makes this team awesome! Thank you for volunteering throughout the season and stepping up when there was a need – it made for a smooth-running season. Part of the reason we love this sport is that it’s truly a family sport, and it takes our entire team working together to make the season successful.

From your team managers – we are tired but happy tired! This team feels like our summer family, and it’s rewarding to see the team grow, people enjoying the community each day and our swimmers growing faster and learning an important life-saving skill.

We look forward to celebrating with you this evening!

PARENT SURVEY

Before you head off on vacation or camp or your next summer adventure, please take a moment to fill out our End of Season Survey. We do read all the responses, and we do make changes (when we can) based on the responses we receive.

If you have additional thoughts about the season or have ideas for how you’d like to be more involved or take on a leadership role next season, please feel free to email us: [email protected]

If you’d like to learn more about the Gwinnett Swim League or provide feedback to the League, there is contact information on their site.

HANARRY WEST CLUB

If you have enjoyed being at the Hanarry West Club each morning or evening during the season, please let our very hard-working HW Club board members know. We have three swim team families that serve on the board: Adrianne Leonard, Lauren Roper and Britta Froelicher. Like our team, the Club is run by volunteers, and as you can imagine with so many members and one of the oldest facilities in the League – there is lots to do!

Please consider joining the Club each year and encouraging your friends and neighbors, especially ones in HW or nearby neighborhoods, to do so as well. Membership dues keep the Club going! And if you have skills or time you can lend to the Club, please reach out to one of the board members above to let them know you want to help. The Club will only continue if members and neighbors continue to invest in it!

YEAR-ROUND SWIM PROGRAMS

Several parents have asked us to highlight year-round swim opportunities for those kids who are eager to keep swimming. We have a handful of Dolphin swimmers who participate, so be sure to ask around to get a first-hand account of these programs. For the year-round programs, registration happens in the summer, but we’ve found that slots will open up throughout the year (add your swimmer’s name to the waitlists).

Mountain Park Aquatic Center Swim Classes – Like other youth classes offered by Gwinnett County, these run as 6-week sessions throughout the year. Sign-ups are first-come, first-serve and sometimes an evaluation is required before registering – so that the swimmer is placed in the level that best corresponds to their skills. Other Gwinnett County pools also have swim classes.

Spartans Swim Club – A part of Greater Atlanta Christian School, this program offers different levels of programs or teams, which run the entire year (but can be paid for monthly). There are different levels depending on a swimmer’s age and skill level. Meets are held on weekends throughout the year, but are normally not a requirement to participate. Evaluations are required before signing up for a program (happening now), and registration for newcomers occurs in July. Spartans also offers swim lessons for beginning swimmers. Costs are listed on the website.

Gwinnett Aquatics – A non-profit organization, this program also offers different programs/teams based on a swimmer’s ability and age. The teams run the entire year, but can be paid for each month. For the more skilled year-round teams, meets are held on weekends throughout the year. Evaluations are required before joining a year-round program (happening now), and registration for newcomers occurs in July. In addition, Gwinnett Aquatics (also known as GAGA) offers lessons for beginning swimmers. They also offer clinics at different points in the year, including one for middle & high school swimmers preparing for their high school swim season and another one in May for kids looking to practice their strokes before summer swim league begins. The schedule and prices are available on the website.

Swim Atlanta – Located a little farther away from Hanarry West, Swim Atlanta is similar in structure to the two programs above. Swim Atlanta also manages pools and hires lifeguards.

Diving – If you swimmer is interested in learning diving, Gwinnett has recently started a program. The information is in the attached flyer.
