HW Dolphins: June 23 Updates

Way to go Dolphins!
Two meet wins last week and lots of fantastic swims!

On Friday, Coach Brown recognized several Swimmers of the Week: Lily Holder, Benjamin Lawrence, Remi Beebe, Stella Voelz, Riley Strickland and Austin Strickland.

A BIG THANK YOU to DJ Olojo for starting the entire Waterton meet! It was a long one – with a senior relay swim too! Thank you for keeping the meet on track (finishing earlier than scheduled) and keeping the overall atmosphere so positive (the fun soundtrack had all the swimmers dancing!). We literally couldn’t have held the meet without you!

A BIG THANK YOU to the Fennell family for purchasing light blue polos for all of our 14 coaches this season! The coaches look fantastic and are easy to identify at meets! If you enjoyed a grilled burger or hot dog at our home meets, Benjie Fennell is also the one to thank for that!

A BIG THANK YOU to Adam Holder, Patrick Dollar, Chris Raffield and Holli Brown for staying after the late meet on Thursday to help us clean up the pool deck. And thank you to Kim Rutkowski, Sarah Penna and Jessica Klausner for jumping in to help with organizing team items during morning practices.

Final Meet: At Rivermist

It’s been quite a few years since the Dolphins have been at Rivermist, but we know that their pool is 6 lanes and their team is smaller than ours. So, weather permitting, this meet should end a good bit earlier than last week’s.

Coach Brown will send out additional details about the meet, but a few final reminders for our last meet:
- Please label your swimmers! This is for their own benefit to help ensure the race time recorded for them is actually their time. And that they swim in the correct heat. Older swimmers too please!
- Swimmers need to remain in the bullpen. We have volunteers in the bullpen helping swimmers, but these are parent volunteers -- please don't make their jobs harder! If swimmers aren't in the bullpen, then parents are responsible for getting their swimmers to the staging area and blocks on time. If your child is swimming backstroke, they need to report to the bullpen/staging immediately after warmups! Staging begins before the meet begins.
- Clean up trash and personal items in the bullpen and wherever you are sitting. We want to be good guests at Rivermist and not create more work for their volunteers.

Gifts for Coaches
We’ve got just two days remaining to contribute to our end of season gift for our 14 coaches. If your family would like to contribute please send in your contribution by the end of day tomorrow, Tuesday, June 23. You can label your gift to: “Coach Brown,” “Coach Ethan” or “Assistant Coaches”. If you want your gift split among all coaches, you can leave it blank or say “coaches.”
Contribute:
1) Venmo: Donate through our team Venmo account (HW-Dolphins)
2) Cash: Please give cash in a labeled envelope to Team Managers Patricia Heys or Christina van Maanen or Team Treasurer Shayna Olojo

End of Season Celebration
Our end of season celebration looks a little different this year. There is no Fun Friday on June 27, but instead we are holding our celebration on Friday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the pool. This year we’ll have dinner for sale from our AMAZINGLY YUMMY CONCESSION STAND! Plus, after handing out awards, we are bringing back the GLOW SWIM!

SCHEDULE:
6 p.m. Gate Opens
Plan to eat dinner at our amazing Concessions Stand as this is our team’s primary fundraiser each year.
6:20 p.m. Swimmers Gather in Age Groups
Please have your swimmers wear their team shirts. We’ll take age group photos, and these are usually some of the best photos of the season.
6:30 p.m. Awards Begin
Each swimmer will receive a medal. Coaches will also present pins for high point winner and top swimmer in each stroke in each age group.
7:30 p.m. Glow Swim
We’ll have multiple lifeguards for our team glow swim. Each swimmer will receive a few glow items to swim with, but please feel free to bring your own. No floats for this swim.
9 p.m. Event Ends
*Similar to a swim meet, please park only on one side of the street, and you’ll want to bring some chairs with you so we have enough seating.

County Meet
The League has updated the top 100 times in each event through Week 4.

Practice for county qualifying swimmers starts immediately following our End of Season Celebration – Saturday, June 29. Practice is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged. Swimmers qualifying for individual events can continue to improve their strokes, and relay team members can practice together.

9-9:45 a.m. 6U and 8U
