Thank you for sticking with us during the rain night! Delays, postponements, rescheduling meets are never easy conversations or decisions. Your coaches and leaders used our League manual as a guide and discussed many different scenarios to continue the meet. I know we had some tired (and wet) parents tonight, but hopefully our swimmers made some memories hanging out in cars, jumping in puddles or chatting in the pavilion area.

We are waiting for details and official confirmation from Woods of Parkview (the home team) before we delve deep into planning for the continuation of the meet on Monday evening. But we wanted to go ahead and address a few questions we got last night from parents and swimmers (and from our own kids).

Are we still having Fun Friday?
YES! Abby McCulloh. Books. Treats. Fun Swim. 10 a.m. Celebrate surviving a rain delay! Or complain about it ... to each other. :) 

When will the meet continue?

Tentatively Monday evening. Warmups starting at 7 p.m. We are waiting for official confirmation from Woods of Parkview, which we should have by midday Friday.

Are we starting the meet from the beginning?

No. We will start the meet from where we left off: Event 31 Heat 3. We will not swim Free Relays. We will plan to swim all individual events.

What if we couldn’t make this week's meet but our swimmers can be there Monday?

According to League rules, the heat sheet remains the same. Only swimmers entered on Thursday night can swim Monday night. It’s a continuation of the meet.

What if we as parent volunteers or swimmers can’t make it to the meet Monday?

We will send out an email sometime Friday with instructions on how to RSVP for Monday’s meet. Rescheduling is a lot of work for our volunteer leaders and coaches, which is why we try to swim the night of if at all possible. But, we will follow up with instructions.

My kid swam Thursday but his/her time isn’t showing up in SwimTopia?

For events that happened right before the rain started, the times are all together on one timer sheet. They will be officially entered in SwimTopia once all events on the sheet are completed.

Are we completing the entire meet on Monday?

Yes, we will swim all events (except relays) in the continuation of the meet all the way to the end. (Everyone please do any and all sunshine rituals for next week!)

Why are we putting so much work and effort into continuing the meet?

Per League rules, if the meet doesn’t continue to at least event #42 none of the times/swims from Thursday can count/can be recorded. Many of our swimmers had personal bests in the events that were swam on tonight, and we want those to be official. We also had many swimmers who had yet to compete in an individual event, and we want to make sure they have the opportunity to compete and record times in 50 Free, IM, Breast and Butterfly. Finally, about half our team will qualify for the County Meet in July and for those approximately 70 swimmers each race is an opportunity to improve and make the top 50.
