Three Things for Thursday
Happy Meet Day!
1. Flowers Crossing Meet
As Coach Brown mentioned in yesterday’s email, tonight’s meet is the largest of the season, with more than 280 swimmers total. You can see in the attached pool layout that our spectator space is small, so please be mindful of that as you pack for the meet and invite (or don’t invite?) extended family members. We can assume parking will be tight as well – give yourself time to park and walk (park on designated side only).
And with this being the largest meet, it will likely be the longest one as well. Bring snacks, hydration and patience to cheer on the Dolphins! Flowers Crossing will have a concession stand featuring Chic-fil-a, Dogwood Pizza, baked potatoes, candy and drinks.
2. Clean Up As You Leave
Whatever time your swimmers and family leave the meet tonight, please take some extra time to make sure you have packed up all your belongings AND cleaned up all your trash – or any trash in your area. We know how much work goes into hosting a swim meet, especially one with a large team like ours, and we want to demonstrate not only great sportsmanship but also be great guests, leaving zero trash and messes behind!
Last season, we had several instances at away meets where our team bullpen was littered with trash at the end of the meet, and tired coaches and leadership spent time cleaning up after the swimmers. We appreciate everyone lending a hand at the end of home and away meets -- many hands do make light work and help prevent leadership burnout.
3. Fun Friday
Tomorrow’s Fun Friday will feature a Free Little Library extravaganza! We’ve got several boxes of donated books to share and are encouraging our swim team families to bring books to donate, swap and share as well. We’ll set up books near our existing Free Little Library for swimmers and parents to browse during Fun Friday. Please take some home for your summer reading!
You may have noticed we’ve been missing a lane line this week at practices. A piece in the wall broke on Monday, and the Club has scheduled to have it fixed today. There’s a possibility that with this pool work the water will not be ready for swimming during Fun Friday. And, if that happens we’ll still have Fun Friday, but will have activities for kids poolside instead of in the water (ex: limbo contest, bubbles, hula hoops, four square, etc.)
See you tonight! Go Dolphins!
