Pre-Season Work Days at HW Club

Hello Dolphin Families!

We are excited to start preparing this weekend for the wonderful, sunny & warm, summer swim season!

As you probably already know, both the Hanarry West Swim & Tennis Club and Hanarry West Dolphin Swim Team are non-profit organizations run by volunteers. And because we are both non-profits, we rely on our members to contribute to the organizations in various (and often specific) ways. As not-for-profit organizations, we keep our costs to members low – our swim team is a fraction of the cost of a year-round team and unlike private pools, there’s no thousand-dollar initiation fee for community members to join the Club. It’s a great thing we’ve got here in Lilburn!

In an example of the generosity of its members, Lilburn Dumpsters has donated a yard waste dumpster for the Hanarry West Club to use this weekend! So we are having TWO Work Days this weekend to clean up the Club grounds: Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon (the Sunday one is a recent addition).

We’d love to have as many swim team families show up to help this weekend as possible (kids are welcomed to help too)! We want to take advantage of the dumpster and get as much yard debris, which has built up on the property over the past few years, cleaned up and hauled away. If you previously selected an April or May Work Day, you are welcomed to log in to SwimTopia and change your shift to this weekend. Remember, a Work Day is a required volunteer shift this year for each family.

Members of the HW Club will be working alongside us this weekend. Dolphin Pups families are invited too! And, we are anticipating help from teenagers from Trickum and Parkview Beta Clubs. If you have a student who needs volunteer hours, please bring them along to volunteer and we’ll sign off on their hours. With all of us working together, we should make a huge impact on the Club grounds.

Work Days:
Saturday, March 22  9 a.m. to Noon
Sunday, March 23  3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

What to wear & bring:

  • Wear work clothes (long sleeves and pants are often better for yard work)
  • Bring work gloves, water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray
  • Bring yard tools: rakes, shovels, hedge trimmers, weedwackers, blowers, wheelbarrows & tarps for hauling debris. If you have additional tools that you wouldn't mind sharing that would be greatly appreciated!

When you arrive:

  • Please park on the street and walk down the driveway, as work will be taking place in the parking lot
  • Find Patricia Heys or Christina van Maanen for check in and to get started on specific yard projects

Our Work Days in April and May will focus on repair of wood decks and fences, painting, bathroom & kitchen cleaning, pool furniture cleaning and specific projects related to swim team equipment. Please make sure you have the date you signed up for marked on your calendar.

Thank you for being a part of our Hanarry West community!
We look forward to seeing familiar faces this weekend.
