June 28: Four Things for the Final Friday

1. End of Season Awards & Ribbons

If you were not able to attend the (rainy) End of Season Celebration today, you can pick up your awards at the Hanarry West pool during County practices the next two weeks. Swimmers’ medals and individual awards are in the file folder with their name. Please pick up your items by THURSDAY, JULY 11 (or have a friend/neighbor pick them up for you). Items not picked up will go into the donations/recycle pile for next season.

Also, Lost & Found Items will be donated on Friday, July 12, so please stop by during practice to claim items (there are LOTS of goggles) that might be yours.

2. County Practices

Congratulations to our Hanarry West swimmers who ended the season ranked in the top 100 in the County! (see attached list) County Practices start TOMORROW morning:

Monday-Saturday Mornings
8-9 a.m. 13-18 year olds
9:-9:45 a.m. 6U and 8U
9:45-10:45 a.m. 9-12 year olds

Evening Practices (Mon & Tues)
6:15-7 p.m. 10 & under
7-7:45 p.m. 11 & up
*No practice on July 4

If your swimmer is ranked in the top 50 on the list, they have definitely qualified to swim. If your swimmer is in the top 100, we’ll know on July 3 (once all swimmers have declared their intent to swim and what events) which HW swimmers have dropped into the top 50 and will swim at the County Meet. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to Coach Brown. REMEMBER – the league charges swimmers a $100 no-show fee, so be firm in your commitment.

All swimmers in the top 100 are invited (and encouraged) to attend County practices until we have the official list on July 3. They are also ALL invited to our County Meet Celebrations:

Thursday, July 11
12 & under – 11-12:30 a.m. after morning practice at the HW pool
13 & up – 6 p.m. at Agavero Cantina (everyone pays their own way)

3. End of Season Survey

While you're riding in the car on your way out of town, watching soccer matches or enjoying a sunny day at the pool, PLEASE take a minute to fill out our short end of the season survey! (It should only take you 5!) Most of the questions are multiple choice – giving us written feedback/suggestions is up to you. But your responses are VERY helpful as we begin to plan for next season. We will start planning next week for 2025, so please fill out the survey by July 3!

4. Thank You!

Thank you to all our volunteers! So many of you went above and beyond the basic volunteer requirements and stepped in when extra hands were needed, problems needed to be solved, supplies were needed, creativity was needed … or you saw a tired parent (or coach or swimmer) who needed an encouraging word or helping hand.

And a HUGE thank you to Christina van Maanen for working days and days before the season even started (we started planning in November)! Her enthusiasm, positivity, creativity and love of swimming, community and celebrations were evident and critical to the success of the season.

Thank you to our lead volunteers for going above and beyond this season: Shayna Olojo, Treasurer; Trisha Atkins, Concessions; Jenn Cooper, Lead Timer; Kym Chapman, Head Official; Angel Dimas, Ribbons; Melissa Lawrence, Computers; Angie Thomas, Spiritwear; Maggie Hammond, Volunteers and Adrianne Leonard, Fun Fridays

Thank you for a wonderful swim season!
And go Dolphins!
