June 24: Final Meet Week

Happy Monday Dolphins!

This week is our fifth and final meet of the season! We’ll be swimming nearby at Evergreen Lakes. The Eels are another large team – and another team with a very sunny pool deck. We’ll share more information about the meet later this week.

As you think about the season and its conclusion this week, we’d love it if you would take a few minutes and fill out our End of Season Survey. We take parent feedback into consideration for planning (whenever possible) for the season. Some decisions about the season, such as our meet schedule, are made by the Gwinnett County Swim League. But we’d love to hear your feedback on all of it!

THANK YOU

A big THANK YOU to Frank Granberry, who went above and beyond his required volunteer slots to meet a need on computers during Thursday’s night meet. And a big THANK YOU to Mary Borneman for taking the lead on a new way of running the bullpen and rocked it! We overheard Waterton volunteers say we had the most organized bullpen & staging system they’d seen!

All our volunteers (and parents) from last Thursday’s meet were praised by Waterton for their friendliness and skills. THANK YOU! We know we have the best summer swim family … that works hard, plays hard and swims hard together!

LAST WEEK RESULTS

CONGRATULATIONS to Ethan van Maanen for continuing to break team records this season. He broke two more during last week's meet.

CONGRATULATIONS to our Swimmers of the Week for their hard work, super swimming skills and personal bests: Gatlin Granberry, Liliana Cummings, Gray Shackelford, Riley Strickland, Annalise Ulrich, Ellouise McWilliams

You can log in to the SwimTopia app and see the results from last week’s meet. You can also find ALL the results on our “past events” calendar page. The Gwinnett County Swim League has posted the top 75 times from the league as some swimmers aim to qualify for the County Meet in July. County Meet merchandise is for sale on the League website for two more days.

END OF SEASON CELEBRATION

Our End of Season Celebration will be held this Friday morning, June 28 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. We’ll have age group photos, awards and special treats and free swim. Please be on time, as we have lots of swimmers (and coaches) to recognize and celebrate!

**We know that many of our families and/or swimmers may be out of town this week. You can ask a neighbor or friend to pick up your child’s awards on Friday. Or stop by the pool the following week during County practices to pick up any ribbons or awards from the season.

We are grateful to local business owner Justin Breda of Angry Ants Pest Solutions for sponsoring this event. With 20 years of experience in the industry, Angry Ants offers free consultations and serves our local area.

If your family is interested in gifting your swimmer’s coach(es) with a small token of appreciation during the last week, the attached PDF lists some of the coaches’ favorite treats. We’ve heard the Brown family frequents several local restaurants (1910, Chick-fil-a, Little Caesars).

MORE SWIMMING

If your swimmer wants to keep swimming and taking lessons this summer or throughout the year, several of our coaches offer individual lessons (see attached list). There are also local indoor facilities that offer not only lessons but also the opportunity to be part of a year-round team. We have Dolphins that swim (or have taken lessons) at all three of these places:

Gwinnett Aquatics

Spartans Aquatic Club

Mountain Park Aquatic Center
