Three Things for Thursday (sort of 3)
1. FROM YOUR COACHES
Pack: Swim Cap (not required, but solid or HW team cap please), Goggles (and extra pair), Towels (and extra or two), Warm Layers, Water bottle, Snacks, Small activities for younger kids
Label: Use a Sharpie to mark a swimmer's name & age on their back (see link). And write their meet schedule on their arm or leg (see link). New families – ask a veteran for help if you need it! Also, label all your belongings!
Arrive: On time – between 5 and 5:15 p.m. Warmups start at 5:30 p.m. The meet starts promptly at 6 p.m.
Check In: At the “Swimmer Check-in Table” with the designated Hanarry West coach.
Remain: In the Hanarry West bullpen during the meet so swimmers know when their events are being called to the staging area. Parent volunteers will help 12 & Under swimmers to staging and their events but ONLY if swimmers are in the bullpen. Ultimately, it is a swimmer's responsibility to get to their event on time.
Leave: Don’t leave until all a swimmer’s events are completed – including double-checking with coaches if a swimmer is needed for a relay. Swimmers are responsible for cleaning up their personal belongings and trash when they leave the meet.
2. FROM YOUR VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP TEAM
Volunteers: Please arrive on time and CHECK IN with Volunteer Coordinator Maggie Hammond (look for our big sign). This is Maggie’s first swim meet with us in this role, so let’s make it as easy on her as possible!
New Parents: Swim meets are a lot! A lot of people. A lot of events. A lot of hours. A lot of new things to learn. We have LOTS of information on the website, but also don’t be afraid to turn to another Dolphin parent in a royal blue shirt and say “I’m new …. ?”.
Returning Parents: Take the lead in vying for the League’s sportsmanship award again! Cheer for all the swimmers. Be kind and courteous. Remind your swimmers (and even other parents) to clean up after themselves. Let’s be good guests at North Forke and leave our team areas clean.
3. FROM THE NORTH FORKE BARRACUDAS
Address & Parking: The North Forke Barracudas recommend putting the address in your GPS so you end up in the correct part of the neighborhood: 1575 Natchez Way, Grayson, GA 30017. This meet is located in a congested area, so allow yourself plenty of drive time (and park and walk time) if possible. Please park on one side of the neighborhood streets, as the signs indicate. (No parking in the tennis court lot.)
Where To Go: As the visiting team, Hanarry West will sit on the far side of the pool for spectator seating. Chairs are not provided. HW swimmers will have the area on the pool deck on the far left corner, at the turn end of the pool. Restrooms are available in the pool house (not clubhouse, the clubhouse is NOT open during the meet).
Concessions: The Barracudas’ concession stand will sell food items, including pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, candy, and drinks (cash or credit card).
Go Dolphins!
