We’ve already started planning for the 2024 swim season, which is certain to be a great one. We’ve got familiar faces returning for the summer and some new things planned!

50TH ANNIVERSARY

This year the swim team celebrates its 50th season – making it the second oldest team in the Gwinnett County Swim League. We hope to celebrate all season long, but have a few special items already in the works, including:

GET INVOLVED

If this email is getting you excited for the coming season (and warmer weather!), and you are wondering how you might be able to help the team – and volunteer alongside a great community of people – we have a few ideas. You don’t have to commit now, but if you have an interest please go ahead and let us know (it will help us in planning … we are volunteers too).

We are looking for people to take on leadership roles in the following areas:
Technology Setup & Breakdown (mics, sound system, starter)
Ribbons (managing team supply, preparing ribbons for distribution, ribbon pickup at away meet)
Concessions Shopping & Setup (afternoons before meets; assignments given by Concessions Coordinator)
Lead Timer (training timers and coordinating timer supplies)
Stroke & Turn Judges (training done online)
Starters (training done online)
Meet Breakdown (coordinating the breakdown and cleanup of items after home meets)
County Meet (coordinating volunteer shifts, celebrations, distribution of county ribbons, etc)

SWIM COACHES

We are excited that Coach Eric Brown is returning as the Dolphins head coach! If your swimmer is interested in applying to work as a Hanarry West coach this summer, have them fill out this application by February 12. Coaches should be active HW swimmers.

Hanarry West Swim & Tennis will be using SwimAtlanta for lifeguards this season (a change from last summer). If your teenager is interested, apply online: www.atlanta-pmg.com

CALENDAR DATES

Go ahead and mark your calendars with the dates below (they are also on the Hanarry West team website). We will keep updating the calendar and Facebook page with new dates and information as we have it.

• February 12: Coach application deadline (see above)
• February 15: Last day of early bird discount for HW pool & tennis membership (see above)
• March 1 (at the earliest): Registration opens for returning swimmers
• April 14: Swimsuit fitting and try on at the pool (3-5pm)
• May 13: First day of practice
• May 30: First meet (there will be 6 dual meets this year)
• July 12-14: County Meet at Georgia Tech
