June 29: Updates from the HW Dolphins

End of Season Survey

The 2023 regular season may have ended, but your leadership team is already looking toward next year – our team’s 50th anniversary! While the swim season is still fresh on everyone’s minds, we would appreciate it if you could take 5-10 minutes and fill out our end of the season survey. Your feedback will help us start planning for next season. If you had favorite parts of the season – or least favorite – or ideas for next summer, this is your chance to let us know!

Gwinnett County Championship Meet

Congratulations to our Dolphins who finished the season in the Top 100 in the Gwinnett County Swim League. With 40 teams and approximately 5,000 swimmers competing this summer, this is a huge accomplishment for these swimmers and our team. Attached is the ad that will run in the County Meet Program that recognizes these swimmers and a list of our swimmers representing the team on relays. You can find information about the County Meet on the League website and our website.

We’ll send out more details next week with parking, specific warmup times, volunteer assignments, meetup location, etc. If your swimmer is in the top 100 but not top 50, the final list for the County Meet will be posted on July 3rd – so you will know that day if your swimmer has dropped into the top 50 and will swim at the meet.

*Teams are fined $100 for no-show swimmers! If you are not 100 percent positive your swimmer will be able to swim at the meet, please let us know ASAP. Reply to this email or email Coach Brown.

County Celebrations

We will have two celebrations for our county swimmers on July 5. Please RSVP on the Calendar page of our website by July 1 for these two events so we will have enough cupcakes (morning) and tables reserved (evening).

11-12:30 p.m. — 12 & Under Swimmers: Immediately after practice we’ll celebrate at the HW pool with cupcakes, fun swim, photo opportunities and treats. Feel free to bring your own lunch. 13 & up swimmers are also welcomed to attend, but please RSVP.

5:30 p.m.- 7 p.m. — 13 & up Swimmers: Agavero Cantina (on Lawrenceville Hwy.) Swimmers pay for their own meal. Parents can drop their swimmers off to eat dinner with coaches.

County Tickets, Merchandise & Volunteers

We need parents of County Meet swimmers to RSVP on our Calendar Page on the event labeled “County Meet (Parents)”. Please indicate the number of tickets you would like for the County Meet – and specify which session(s). Also, please indicate if you or your spouse will be attending the County Meet.

Our team is awarded a certain number of tickets per session (usually 2 per swimmer), but we want to try and meet everyone’s ticket needs if possible. You’ll be able to pick up your tickets (and any County merchandise you pre-ordered) at the morning practices on July 5.

Our team is assigned volunteer roles for each session of the meet (usually 3 per session). We will know what these assignments are after July 3. One parent of each County swimmer is expected to volunteer at the meet. Please RSVP so we know your availability. We will also have volunteer needs during the celebrations on July 5.
