Last Chance Meet
Final Meet: Monday, June 26 at Home
Our last meet is called a “Last Chance Meet” as it’s the last chance for swimmers to try a new event or qualify for county or give it their all. The races at this meet run just like a regular meet – we have a full team of volunteers in all the roles, the times count toward county placement, and swimmers are expected to demonstrate great sportsmanship toward their teammates as we give out end of the season awards. A schedule of events is attached. (We will have regular practice Monday morning.)
In each age group, awards will be given for:
- Team Participation: Each swimmer on the team receives a pin for their lanyard
- High Points Winner: Male and female swimmer who recorded the most points for the team this season receive a trophy
- Stroke Awards: The top male and female swimmers in each stroke will be awarded a pin for their lanyard
What's Different About This Meet:
- It is just our awesome team!
- There are no relays.
- There are no ribbons (but you can pick up your ribbons from previous meets from the ribbon box).
- Your last chance to grab your items from the Lost & Found Box (will be near entrance).
- Dolphin spectators can sit on both sides of the pool – just remember to leave a walkway all the way around the pool for coaches, timers, judges, parents, swimmers, etc.
- A Hanarry West banner will be set up near the entrance for families to take pictures of their swimmers with their pins or siblings or friends.
- Award presentations will be made near the blocks. Each age group will have their own time slot (see attached schedule).
- We will recognize our outstanding coaches, including our assistant coach and the team’s only senior Ethan Kruger. We’ve heard he’s got a fun relay planned for his final lap down the HW pool.
- The rain makeup date for this meet is the next day: Tuesday, June 27.
Important Reminders:
- Be on time! Age group pictures start sharply at 5:05 p.m. Please have your swimmer wear their team shirt over their bathing suit for these photos. We’ll post these photos to the HW Facebook Group.
- Times recorded at this meet count toward the County Meet. The atmosphere will be fun, but the racing will still be serious.
- Keep up with your child’s lanyard! Write their name on it and place it somewhere it doesn’t get lost.
- Volunteer shifts are just as important at this meet. We need everyone who is signed up to show up as our team has all the timer, judges, staging, etc. roles.
- Everyone who is staying for the Glow Swim can help with the breakdown of meet items – from concessions to benches to blocks to bathrooms. The swim will be begin when the pool deck is clean.
Monday’s Menu:
Burgers, Ziti, Hot dogs, Potatoes, Nachos, Chili, Chips, Fruit, Pickles, Candy and Desserts. (Need a volunteer to make brownies, cake or cobbler.)
Glow Swim
A Dolphin tradition, the Glow Swim will happen at the conclusion of the meet once the pool and pool deck are cleaned up and returned to its everyday setup. Spectators will be asked to remove their chairs from the edge of the pool. A limited number of glow items will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own.
There is no official lifeguard on duty for this event. Please keep an eye on your children. If your child isn’t a strong swimmer, please be extra vigilant. The baby pool will also be open with glow items for the younger children.
