May 29: Updates from Hanarry West Dolphins
Second Meet: Thursday, June 1 at Brightwater
The Dolphins first away meet is this week at Brightwater. The Brightwater Breeze website has a page dedicated to information about their meets – including where to park, where to sit, etc. Please review this information and be sure give yourself plenty of time to drive (about 20 minutes away) and park. Coach Brown will be sending out an email on Wednesday with our team’s warmup time and the heat sheet (your swimmer’s schedule of events).
Important Reminders:
- Swimmers are responsible for cleaning up their personal belongings and TRASH when they leave the meet. At the conclusion of our first meet, the Hanarry West bullpen was full of trash. Please remind your swimmers to clean up after themselves. And let’s be good guests at Brightwater and leave our team areas CLEAN.
- Swimmers should check in at the team bullpen when they arrive and remain in the bullpen during the meet.
- If you are volunteering for this meet, please be on time and check in when you arrive with Volunteer Coordinator Kym Chapman.
- HW swimmers are not required to wear a swim cap at the meet, but if they do it needs to be a HW team cap. If your swimmer doesn’t have one, please let us know when you check in at the meet.
Last Week’s Results, Ribbons & Thank Yous
You can view results from last week’s meet on the “past events” tab of our website’s calendar. The Gwinnett County Swim League also posts the top times from the league on its website each week as some swimmers aim to quality for the County Meet in July. Ribbons will be available at Tuesday's practice -- they are sorted in file folders by last name.
BIG THANK YOU to Jen & Ryan Whitten for donating their time and services to get the new HW Bullpen expansion (aka grassy area) ready for our first meet by fogging for mosquitos.
BIG THANK YOU to Melissa Lawrence for taking on the role of Co-Lead Computer Operator and getting all the documents ready for the meet last week. And to her husband, Tony, for donating a new computer to the team!
BIG THANK YOU to Andy Mercer and Collins Young for fixing the electrical outlets before the swim meet last week. And to Chris Raffield for putting a light in the team shed.
Summer Practice Schedule
We are now in our summer practice schedule – available on our website. Evening practices are reserved for swimmers who can’t attend during the day. Please let Coach Brown know if you need to change from morning to evening, especially if you have a 6 & under swimmer.
Fun Friday Sponsor: H3 Neighborhood
Thank you to the H3 Neighborhood (aka Haralson Hills, Hampton Rhoades & Highlands off Miller Road). This week will feature duck races and Cosmic Brownies. All HW team swimmers (no siblings please) are invited to participate in Fun Friday activities from 10-11 a.m. Please RSVP by EOD Tuesday so our volunteers can have an accurate headcount. The pool officially opens at 11 a.m., so swimmers who are not members of the HW Club need to leave the pool at 11 a.m. When you have a chance, please say “thank you” to Fun Friday Coordinators Rachel Rennick and Adrianne Leonard.
Sign Up for Stroke Clinics
The Friday Stroke Clinics are limited to 20 swimmers due to pool size. Clinics are $10 cash (or Venmor) per swimmer due the morning of the clinic. Signup on SwimTopia in the Calendar section.
June 2: Diving & Starts is full
June 9: Turns still has spots remaining
June 16: Butterfly opens on June 2
RSVP for June 8 Meet
Log into SwimTopia and register your swimmers for next week’s meet. In order to be entered for the June 8 meet against Flowers Crossing, your children need to be registered by 10 a.m. this Friday. You can go ahead and register them for all the season’s meets if you know your schedule. Please mark “not attending” for the meets you’ll miss – this is very helpful to our coaches and volunteers.
Non-member Fee Applied June 1
If you plan on joining the Hanarry West Swim & Tennis Club this summer, please do so before June 1. At the beginning of the month our team will charge the “non-member” fee to anyone who is not on the Club’s membership list. These fees can’t be refunded if you decide to join later in the year.
