First Meet: Thursday, May 25 at 6 p.m. at Home
We’ll be hosting the Hanarry Hurricanes for our first meet of the 2023 season! If you are new to summer swim or the team, lots of info about meets is included on our website, including schedule of events, what to pack, how to read a heat sheet and how to mark your swimmer with their name and events for the meet. Your kids might be excited to learn the team cheer before Thursday. Coach Brown will be sending out an email on Wednesday with the heat sheet (your swimmer’s schedule of events) and additional details for the meet.

Important reminders: 

• Park on the pool side of the street ONLY and please be respectful of HW neighbors by not blocking driveways or leaving trash in their yards.
• Swimmers need to remain in the team Bullpen until they are done swimming for the night. Bullpen and Staging volunteers will help 12 and under swimmers get to their events, but ONLY if they are with their age group in the Bullpen. Ultimately, it is a swimmer’s responsibility to get to the blocks for their events.
• Please do not set up a chair for your swimmers in the Spectator Area. Not only is this area going to be VERY crowded, but your swimmers need to remain in the Bullpen.
• Please have your swimmer check in with a coach when they arrive.
• If you are volunteering for this meet, please check in with our Volunteer Coordinator in the Clubhouse (next to concessions).

New this year:

• We are using the grassy area as part of the HW Bullpen, and this will allow us to divide the Bullpen up into age group areas. Please remind your swimmers to stay with their age group.
• For 6 & Under and 7 & 8 swimmers, we are asking parents to use a Sharpie to write their swimmer’s events on their back if possible (instead of their arm). This will help Bullpen Volunteers better assist swimmers in getting to their events.

First Meet Menu
Our Concession Stand is the team’s primary fundraiser, so make plans to eat dinner at the meet. We heard your requests and new this year – flavored bubbly water! The Concession Stand accepts cash and Venmo. MENU: Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Grilled Burgers, Grilled Hot Dogs, Baked Potatoes, Bowl of Chili, Baked Ziti, Nachos, Pasta Salad and an assortment of desserts, including Dirt Cake!

No Practice Wednesday
There is no practice on Wednesday, the last day of school for Gwinnett County Schools, but our summer practice schedule starts Thursday! You can find the summer schedule on our website. (For parents sitting around the pool deck during morning practices – the chairs are usually damp in the mornings, so you might want your own towel.)

All ages are invited to participate in Fun Friday activities from 10-11 a.m. Please RSVP by EOD Tuesday so our volunteers can have an accurate headcount. This week’s theme is “Corners & Squares.” To start the fun, we’ll cheer on our team’s youngest swimmers in the “Guppy Swim,” where coaches swim alongside 6 & under swimmers for a lap of the pool.

RSVP for June 1 Meet
Log into SwimTopia and register your swimmers for next week’s meet. In order to be entered for the June 1 meet at Brightwater, your children need to be registered by 10 a.m. this Friday. You can go ahead and registered them for all the season’s meets if you know your schedule. Please mark “not attending” for the meets you’ll miss – this is very helpful to our coaches and volunteers.

Stroke Clinics
The June 2 Diving & Starts Stroke Clinic is full. All the Friday clinics are limited to 20 swimmers due to pool size. Signups for the June 9 Clinic – Turns – will open at midnight on May 26. Clinics are $10 cash per swimmer due the morning of the clinics
