All things County Swim Championship

This is going to be a long email but it has everything we know about the County Championships at this time. Please know that we are so proud of all of our swimmers. They put up so many personal bests and have worked so hard to improve. We look forward to celebrating them all on July 13th at Awards Night!

Attached is the list of those WE THINK will qualify to swim at county based on the last Top 100 list and your information about if you were available or not. After Monday’s meet, some additional kids may qualify or might be removed from the list. If there is a change, we will contact you directly.

If your child is on this list, please have them continue to come to practice from Tuesday on. The practice schedule is below. Please let us know if you need evening practice because it is only offered if there is a need. Let us know ASAP! Please note below - Per Georgia Tech rules, no spectators will be allowed in the Aquatic Center.  We will have coaches escorting the kids to where they need to be and staying with them when they wait. The event will be live streamed so that everyone can watch on their phones or TV. Please let us know ASAP if this impacts your decision to allow your child to compete.

Practice at HW will be:

13-18 - 8:00-9:00

5-8 year olds - 8:50 - 9:50

9-12 year olds - 9:40-10:50

  • The meet will be sanctioned and safe sport rules will apply.
  • Spectators are not allowed at the county meet per GA Tech rules.
  • Teams will be allowed to bring up to 4 coaches to the meet. ONLY TWO coaches will be allowed on deck at all times!! It is imperative that only two coaches be on deck to maintain our deck limitations.
  • Team volunteer spots: 2-4 volunteer spots will be assigned per team, per session. Volunteer requirements are based on number of swimmers your team is bring to the county meet- this process remains in place from previous years. (more swimmers = more volunteer requirements per team) Roger Obermeyer will be communicating to teams on volunteer requirements after the top 100 list comes out this weekend.
  • Teams will be sitting in the stands in designated spots. The deck will be used for staging only, no swimmers are allowed to sit on deck.
    • Coaches &/or volunteers will sit with the swimmers in the stands to monitor and assist with getting swimmers to the deck.
    • Swimmers will be guided from the stands on to the deck in a one directional path along the far wall of the pool. Bleachers and chairs will be set up on deck as normal to stage swimmers. There will be no more than 80-100 swimmers on deck at a time. Swimmers will exit the pool and head back to the stands after swims. If a swimmer has back to back events they will need to circle around to proceed back to staging. Volunteers will be assisting with the entire process.
  • Food- there will be no concession stands opened. Swimmers are allowed to have food in the stands. Small coolers/bags are allowed but must be able to fit under the seats in the stands.
  • Check-in - Check ins for swimmers will take place in the front of the aquatic building. Younger swimmers will be escorted to the stands with team coaches or volunteers.
  • Team Volunteers and Coaches will be given passes to enter the facility. Only those with a pass will be permitted! There is no exceptions!!!
  • Parking- We continue to work thru details on parking. It remains very limited. We will share details as soon as we have them.
